Summer has officially arrived and what better way to celebrate it in true South African, and Stellenbosch style, than a wine tasting at one of the many Stellenbosch Wine Routes wineries, namely Eikendal. Eikendal Vineyards, with its distinctive barrel-vaulted cellar and towering fountain, is a landmark on the R44 road between Somerset West and Stellenbosch. Situated in the “Golden Triangle” of wine growing, Eikendal vineyards flourish in a mountain and maritime microclimate, ideal for the production of quality wine.

Eikendal Vineyards is one of the many wine farms that lies within the Helderberg Sub route region. The Helderberg lies due south from Stellenbosch and extends to the shore of False Bay. Its dominant mountainscape gives the region the appearance of an amphitheatre, with the valley dropping away from the curve of the Hottentots Holland range. Impossible to explore this entire sub-route region in one day, but we’re highlighting a few to add to your itinerary when visiting Eikendal.
To make it easy for you we’re highlighting the popular Annandale road, where you can find busty, bold red wines, out of this world wine pairings and the perfect place for sundowners.

Rust en Vrede’s full range of wines are available for tasting at our Tasting Room. Join us for an intimate tasting in our state of the art cellar or under the oaks with views of the vineyards and the Stellenbosch mountains.
Daily tastings are guided by our friendly and knowledgeable tasting room staff, who also offer informal tours of our underground cellar. Combine your wine tasting with our renowned Winemaker’s lunch, a simple set menu of either steak or salmon accompanied by a glass of wine. It is the ideal setting for a wonderful afternoon out in the winlands, surrounded by our towering oaks and manicured gardens.
